The Cure Concert in Miami 2016- Perfection

The Cure Concert in Miami 2016- Perfection

Last night we went to The Cure concert at Bayfront Park Amphitheater in Miami! We bought our tickets at the end of last year (2015) right when they went on sale. We decided to go big with premium seats on the 5th row. We figured the band has been around for decades and well, they probably won’t be touring for much longer. In essence, it may be the last time we get to see them.

Special Band

The Cure holds a special place in my heart since they are one of the first alternative bands I discovered in middle school. At the time they were considered a goth type band, mysterious and underground. Not too many kids in school were listening to The Cure, so being a fan felt rebellious and secretive. The new wave music movement made me feel like I knew something the other kids didn’t. Listening to The Cure made me feel special and cool, and who doesn’t want to feel this way in the awkward teen years.

The Show

Last night’s show was beyond amazing. We purposely arrived after the opening band was done, grabbed a drink and went to our seats. We didn’t wait much The Cure started right away, I think around 8:00 pm and the opening band had started at 7. They didn’t act like divas, showing up late, although they have every right to do so.  They methodically played for about 3 hours playing 34 songs from their extensive catalog, a mixture of old and new songs (set list), with 4 riveting encores!

Bayfront Park Amphitheatre’s staff were crazy strict not allowing any dancing outside of your seat, no smoking (even though it’s outdoors!) and drinks were capped before the 3rd encore.  There were like 3 checkpoints to get to our seats but I guess that part was good. Also, please someone get some quality food into this venue or all other concert venues in S. Florida. The food is so junky, gross and expensive to top it off. Something like what is served at music festivals would be nice, like something from a good local restaurant. There were a few good choices of T-shirts (only men’s cuts though), programs, hats and buttons at the merch tent. I got a hat since there weren’t any women’s Ts available.

The End

In the end, The Cure concert was truly magical especially under the skyline of the Magic City. They played Boys Don’t Cry. The band sounded flawless. Robert Smith spoke to the crowd a few times, he seemed happy and relaxed. I really wouldn’t mind going to the second show tonight, it was just too good!
