Wynwood Art Walk- October

Wynwood Art Walk- October

October’s Wynwood Art Walk was not my most memorable.  Getting there late, valet parking was full as were the streets. It’s really mad on the streets during art walk and if you’re not prepared well it’s just annoying. Why does everything good turn bad eventually? Put simply, when the general populous finds out there is something good happening the droves of people start attending. Eventually the event or said thing just becomes saturated with meaningless crap loosing the true reason why it all started in the first place. It’s a common occurrence not shocking; it happens all the time. Heck it happened to S. Beach!

Let me not be a Debbie downer and say I love Wynwood. There is still great art, people and magical things happening you just need to weed thorough all the rubbish to find it. Miami’s art scene can be authentic and inspiring but finding meaningful art can be tricky.

Here is a brief (we didn’t stay long) review of Wynwood Art Walk in the good ole Mia!

Gregg Shienbaum Fine Art, Clandestine Culture

This was the first solo show for the covert artist.  I would say it was a hit,  the streets were brought into the gallery in a display of true revolutionary art.  The show celebrated the ideals of street art-that of using the street as a canvas as well as the spontaneity and impermanence of the art. Thanks Shienbaum for accurately representing the art that happens in the streets!

GAB Studios

GAB always shows interesting work- the art below by Tim Probasco caught my eye. Made out of toy soldiers these pieces are time intensive an the element I admire in a work of art.  The way the pieces were presented really drew me in.

Wynwood Cigar Factory had a nice little party going on with a variety of art showing on their walls. I actually got a really cool t-shirt (with cigar purchase) from them, it fits really well and the material is so soft.

Ah the Wynwood walls you never know what you’re going to find, couples on top of each other doing yoga, a long line at the bar.  And this Sat… Who was the little kid painting at the walls dressed like a piggy?  Cute or bizarre, not really sure.
