S. FL Weekend in Review-September 22nd

There’s nothing like a weekend where you get to do a little of everything: spend time with friends and family, have some one on one time with your huny and maybe listen to some good music or see some amazing art. That’s what really makes a good weekend for me, just getting to do a little of everything mixed in with some rest makes it perfect.

This past weekend was one of those when there are so many things to do, one actually has to pick the best things and miss the rest.   I did spend time with friends which is always a must weather its celebrating or helping with a project or discussing something important. Friends and time spent with them should be cherished.

Another great thing this weekend was having the pleasure to go see some live music which I like to do as often as I can. I use to do this more often when I was younger but these days the opportunities don’t come as often. My boyfriend suggested we go see Amon Tobin an electronic music artist. One of which I was surprised not to have known of or heard before. It’s very probable that I could’ve been at a show where he performed but never realized it, as were things back in my 20’s. Never the less I’m so glad I went because what an amazing show it was. First of all visually the show ranks high. Amon spins inside an on stage set up of boxes kind of reminiscent of a Q-Bert game but less pyramid shaped and more horizontal.  As he plays there are projections flashed on this these squares creating different effects sometimes appearing as if on fire others as if they were made out of steel or exploding.  Thanks Craig!

That same night I attended a very interesting art, music, food and shopping event at the Green Room celebrating Wes Anderson films. There was some cool art on the walls all in homage to Anderson. The music was good although I didn’t have a chance to dance. I never have at the GR maybe because it seems like the dance floor is a walk way to get to other parts of the place. None the less the event was uber cool. The Riverside Market food was great and the owners very nice.  I won a print from artist Kristen Frenzel since I was the 400th like on the Subculture Facebook page. Thanks Subculture!

I had a full weekend indeed topping it off on Sunday with some Football (damn it the Dolphins lost!) and Chili’s with child my kid for a bite. Oh and some good sleeping in throughout.
