The Miami Marine Stadium Mural Project- Successful Progress
The Miami Marine Stadium Mural Project is well on it’s way boasting a roster of talented artists including: Stinkfish, Axel Void, HoxxoH, Tatiana Suarez and Abstrk- Ricky Mastrapa. Each artist has created a mural at the stadium of which prints will be produced and sold. Some of the proceeds from the prints will be used to help renovate the stadium and bring it back to its original glory and more. It doesn’t end there, this Saturday artist Pixel Pancho will be contributing to the stellar roster by creating a piece at the stadium. Later this month, on June 28th, a huge painting event will take place including several artists and news media. To further the excitement in the fall there will be two shows one in Wynwood in September and another, not to be missed, during Art Basel. The shows will be featuring works for sale by all the artists involved in the project.
This is such a worthy project, not just for the art collector/enthusiast but for the sake of restoring a Miami landmark. Miami is a newer city. It doesn’t have as much history as lets say New York or other states. It is important to conserve its history so that there is something to look back on, for our children at least.
I have fond memories of the stadium. As a kid I went to concerts there and it was like no other venue. The stage was on the water, the audience overlooking it and the Downtown Miami Skyline with cool ocean breezes sweeping through. After it’s restored it will be used for the community, for shows, as a park and as place where art happened and continues to happen.
Here are some of the pictures from the last artist session at the stadium.
