My Picks-Things to Do in S.F. the Weekend of March 16th

Living in South Florida offers many advantages. The weather, the beaches and lots of things to do all the time right in your backyard or withing a short drive. Here are my picks of things to do this weekend in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach:

Miami Music Week/ WMC, Downtown Miami and Miami Beach

In its 27^th year the Winter Music Conference has always been a huge party with an actual EDM conference happening at the same time. When Miami Music Week was added last year after some sort of disagreement between the conference and the anchor festival Ultra it created quite the mess. This year things are better and the conference which used to be held for a week has been extended to 9 days. Yay, more time to party!  The parties( and yes panels and conference events) start tonight and run through next Sunday.

Festival of the Arts Boca 2012

If you enjoy something a little calmer and less coma inducing like more traditional music, dance and film the Festival of the Arts has it all. This is the last weekend of the festival which takes place on beautiful Mizner Park with a concert tonight with Poncho Sanchez and His Latin Jazz Band in the amphitheater and a St Patrick’s Day Extravaganza with Drake Irish Dance, Seven Nations, James Kelly  tomorrow.

Ah the fair brings back memories of childhood. In its 61^st year the  Dade County Fair not only offers rides and awesome junk food, but also serves up concerts, MMA fights, over 45,000 student exhibits and for the first time a fast pass that’s only $15. The fast pass alone is worth trip , VIP access no more waiting in line!
