Miami Filmmaker Breaks Down Barriers with The Wall

A New York City cellist, plagued by years of guilt, seeks solace in a Holocaust survivor with whom he shares a tenement wall, in The Wall, playing July 6-20 at http://www.RedMovieHouse.com.

The award-winning film was written and directed by Miami native, Michael Green, while in film school at The Florida State University.

The Wall was an opportunity to merge two art forms that have had a profound impact upon my life film and music, says Green, who grew up playing violin from age 8.

Among many awards garnered by the film, The Wall won a student Emmy at the College Television Awards in Hollywood, California.

Shooting the production presented some unique challenges. According to Green, the actor (who played the cello in the film) had no music experience and the actress (who played the violin) had no acting experience, as she was a professional violinist.

Green says he was inspired to create the film after hearing a lecture about the power of art to bring people together. The message of the film, according to Green: Despite our differences, there are things (like music) that transcend race, gender, and creed and tap into something far greater and more fundamental our humanity.
